The Client

The Grupo Energía Bogotá (GEB) generates, transmits, distributes and sells energy, natural gas and fossil fuels.

Listed on the Colombian Stock Market, the company is the main multinational electric energy and natural gas company in the region. Its markets include Colombia, Peru, Guatemala and Brazil.Also, it is a “strategic connecter,” focused in three business groups:

  • Urban Energetic Solutions, which develops and operates the infrastructure to supply electricity and natural gas to large cities.
  • Interconnection for Market Development, which connects the sources of energy generation with consumption mega-centers and large users.
  • Low Emission Generation, which seeks new renewable energy opportunities in countries that are moving toward sustainable and low-emission energy generation.

The Challenge

Empresa de Energía de Bogotá needed to increase its visibility for current and potential stakeholders.
In addition to a website redesign, the energy giant needed a content management system that would improve user experience and resolve availability issues

The Solution

Aplyca divided the strategy into various phases:

Architecture and Design

We defined EEB’s digital presence project. We interviewed staff in every area to collect information and to build a content presentation strategy thatwould enable the user to navigate the site and easyily access content. Based on this, we defined the architecture and the new design for their web portal.

Content Management

The site was built using eZ Publish CMS. This tool allowed us to create, not just ECB’s site, but multiple sites within the same platform in two languages, an editing and content approval flow, and the integration of several internal platforms.

Cloud Storage

We migrated the site through Amazon Web Services to guarantee its scalability, availability and high performance.

Support and Maintenance

Since the portal’s launch, Aplyca has continued to support the sites. During this time, we have built more sites for subsidiaries through evolutionary sites. We also developed internal blogs to improve communication amongthe organization’s personnel.
