Aplyca developed the new Computer Shopper site with all the functional and design specifications in eZ publish.

About the company

The web site is a portal with reviews, product roundups, help and how-to articles. It has a comparison shopping component that allows buyers to connect with the lowest prices on technology products from online sellers.

The site is composed of central pages for all major computer hardware and software categories. One section breaks out the site's most recent coverage according to category, while another shows the five best products in each category. The site provides succinct summaries (including videos) of how to shop for PC hardware in more than 30 categories. Editors blog new product releases and first impressions.

A forum area enables readers to exchange opinions or ask questions about computer purchases and operating difficulties. The site's download area provides access to thousands of free, shareware, and trial software applications maintained on the back end by CNET.com.

An Editorial System to publish content in different channels. We used eZ Publish to create a magazine editorial system that supports content lifecycle, from assignment and research to publication. Following a growing trend in the publishing industry, the company has abandoned print and moved entirely to web-based publication, all supported by eZ publish.

The Aplyca solution covered:

  • Editorial system for publishing to the web
  • High-traffic infrastructure setup
  • Content migration of more than 10,000 articles from magazine archives
  • Flexible ad engine integration throughout the site

We are very impressed with the work that Aplyca has done for ComputerShopper.com. They are easy to work with, flexible and professional. We have seen great results due to their work on our content management system.
