(Bogota, Colombia) – Aplyca, a leading provider of enterprise solutions, has applied its expertise of cloud infrastructure to Quiksilver (NYSE: ZQK), one of the world’s largest manufacturers and sellers of surf wear and board-sport equipment.
With high-demand brands such as Quiksilver, DC Shoes and Roxy, the Huntington Beach, CA manufacturer needed to beef up its four-year-old Amazon Web Services architecture – with something that would provide flexible and expandable infrastructure for each brand’s high-traffic portals.
As an expert in eZ Publish implementations, Aplyca was selected to define a strong and extensible server architecture using cloud infrastructure.
Aplyca worked with its vast network of partners to design and implement a robust cluster solution in the Amazon cloud that is capable of serving millions of visitors and scaling as demand changes, said Aplyca founder Felipe Jaramillo Fonnegra.
“The challenge was to provide image and content binaries delivered through a global network of servers, providing fast access to files on nearby servers,” Jaramillo
said. “The Aplyca team outdid itself on this one; I’m proud of what we delivered.”
Quiksilver chose eZ Publish Enterprise to power its online marketing sites, and Aplyca tailored the platform to fit the company’s needs and growth projections.
“We’ve created a multi-year strategy that provides added flexibility in managing multiple portals worldwide, global content sharing, integration with external systems and enhanced content customization,” Felipe Jaramillo said.
